Senior Scientist/Director - Assay Development & Molecular Genomics of Cancer

Prime Genomics is seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, and creative scientist to lead our innovative research efforts focused on using advanced genomics approaches to validate and extend a novel approach to noninvasive cancer detection.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in developing and optimizing RNA assays used in evaluating and predicting the genomics of health and disease. The candidate will have an excellent command of nucleic acid assay development, in particular approaches for cancer diagnosis and screening. The candidate will understand cancer biology & pathways, and approaches for nucleic acid profiling of clinical samples & cohorts. This leadership position will involve managing collaborations with clinicians and other research labs and contributing to developing the company’s biomarker test platform, as well as supervising a research associate.

The candidate will work closely with senior management to scope, plan, and execute our R&D plan, and think strategically about adapting innovation to company technology goals. The candidate will be skilled in methods for genomics and gene expression analysis (including qRT-PCR, arrays, and RNAseq), and can plan and manage laboratory activities including experimental design, data analysis, results interpretation and assay optimization.

Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, and using Powerpoint/Excel/data analysis and genomics software tools) are required. Extensive experience strategically contributing to, managing and executing commercial research and/or diagnostics assays and clinical projects required. PhD with appropriate experience in molecular biology, genetics and genomics, and prior experience in assay development and optimization required. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop robust, optimized nucleic acid assays for RNA profiling from patient cohorts and tissues. Supervise laboratory assay development & optimization, oversee experimental data analysis

The candidate will work closely with senior management to scope, plan, and execute our R&D plan, and think strategically about adapting innovation to company technology goals. The candidate will be skilled in nucleic acid extraction and quantitation, design of experiment (DoE), and assay validation. The successful candidate will be able to manage all aspects of clinical sample prep optimization from sample collection to laboratory activities including experimental design, data analysis, results interpretation and assay optimization.

Excellent communications skills are required. Extensive experience strategically contributing to, managing and executing high profile diagnostics and/or assay development projects required. PhD with appropriate experience in molecular biology, genetics and genomics required. Prior biotech company or production experience in genomics project, assay development and management required. Research Associate/Scientist - Assay Development & Optimization

Prime Genomics is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate or Scientist to lead biomarker validation studies in early disease detection. The researcher must be able to plan and implement experiments, understand and analyze results, and suggest next steps in the experimental plan.

Highly-developed team interaction skills and ability to work under aggressive timelines are important. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail is critical. Prior experience with optimizing gene expression assays and understanding next generation sequencing technology are highly desired.

The candidate will design and implement key diagnostics and assay development projects, and have experience in developing and optimizing molecular biology assays and diagnostics with clinical and disease samples. The successful candidate’s assay development or diagnostics experience and molecular biology laboratory expertise will include mRNA, miRNA, and other genomic assays, quantitative results analysis and work plan development.

Clinical Research Associate - Cancer genomic studies

Prime Genomics is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Associate to manage our ongoing cancer genomics studies. The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The duties of this position will include managing ongoing clinical research studies, including coordinating the collection and storage of clinical research data. The candidate will ensure study compliance with federal regulations and IRB approved protocols. The ability to gather and analyze data, create reports, and make presentations is required. The ideal candidate will be experienced in recruiting study participants, as well as obtaining and documenting informed consent.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in nursing or a life sciences field, or equivalent
  • Certified Clinical Research Professional credentialing or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience enrolling patients, and managing clinical research studies
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications and record keeping skills

Bioinformatics Data Scientist

Note: This position is currently part-time or a consulting role, with the possibility to transition to full-time in the coming year. Prime Genomics is seeking a talented Bioinformatics Data Scientist with experience in analyzing, storing, and archiving genomic (RNA, DNA) and related clinical data, along with statistical or mathematical data analysis skills. The candidate should have the ability to work with genomic databases, clinical, and public/private datasets, to develop annotated data cohorts from publications and online databases, and to use and modify algorithms to analyze genomic datasets. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to search, analyze and evaluate NGS, genomic and gene expression data (arrays, qRT-PCR, RNAseq). This position will provide support for ongoing queries and data mining from public, proprietary, and in-house database. The ideal candidate should be nimble and skilled in working with a variety of NGS, genomic and gene expression datatypes and public databases using common bioinformatics tools and databases (GATK, TCGA, etc), and to be able to use visual programming tools to display data & analysis results. Excellent communication skills and ability to connect tools and analyses to disease screening and diagnostics development required.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the laboratory and scientific teams with genomic data management, bioinformatics analysis, public database searching, algorithm optimization, and clinical trial design
  • Write scripts for clinical data archiving & analysis
  • Provide statistical input for all major initiatives, including clinical development, diagnostics, protocols, analysis plans, clinical study reports
  • Help evaluate developments & publications in statistics, biomarker algorithms and diagnostics development
  • Provide technical and methodological advice

Minimum Qualifications
